Vaccinations
BOOK APPOINTMENTAt Veterinary Center of Parker, Inc., we believe that one of the most important aspects of caring for your pet’s health is vaccinating them against potential diseases. There are a variety of diseases that affect our pets and animals, so proper vaccination is vital in protecting them from the many types of illnesses they are susceptible to.
Canine Vaccines
DA2PP (Distemper) – A combination vaccine that protects your dog against four diseases (distemper, adenovirus-2, parainfluenza, and parvovirus). These diseases spread rapidly and can attack your pet’s nervous system, respiratory system, and gastrointestinal tract causing major complications and can be life-threatening.
Bordetella – This vaccine protects your pet against the airborne virus commonly known as “kennel cough.” This virus causes respiratory problems amongst dogs and is highly contagious. It is easily spread in areas where large numbers of dogs are confined such as boarding, daycare, dog parks, etc.
Lifestyle Vaccines
Influenza – The canine influenza vaccine protects against a contagious respiratory infection and is recommended if your pet is in kennel or social situations like daycare, boarding, puppy training classes, etc.
Leptospirosis – This vaccine protects against a bacteria that can cause deadly kidney or liver disease. Leptospirosis is zoonotic, meaning it can be transmitted to people and cause similar issues. This vaccine is recommended for pets who are frequently around lakes, ponds, rivers or are exposed to wildlife.
Feline Vaccines
Rabies – Rabies is a fatal virus that is passed to other pets and people through the saliva of an infected animal. Rabies vaccination can only be administered by a licensed veterinarian.
FVRCP (Feline Distemper) – A combination vaccine that protects your cat against three diseases (rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, and panleukopenia). These diseases spread rapidly and attack your pet’s respiratory system, nervous system, and gastrointestinal tract causing major complications and can be life-threatening.
Lifestyle Vaccines
Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) – This vaccine helps protect your pet against the disease that impairs the immune system and causes certain types of cancer. The disease is spread through cat to cat contact via saliva. This vaccine is recommended for multiple cat households or cats that roam outdoors.
